Our Story

Inspired Movement exists to create dance that opens up conversation with our community.

In 2015, Lydia Detrow began teaching ballet classes out of a church fellowship hall; providing an inclusive and family-oriented place for individuals in a rural area to dance. As the need for excellent ballet training in the area became more evident, these handful of classes became Ballet Gloria, a non-profit dance studio serving Geauga and Lake County families.

In 2020 Ballet Gloria signed the lease of their current location, finding their permanent home in Chardon, Ohio. Through the pandemic they continued to be blessed and grow - gaining new teachers, styles, and a larger student body.

Today, it has expanded to become Inspired Movement Dance Studio and offers several genres to dancers of all ages. The goal of Lydia and the Board of Directors was to create an environment where students were not limited by their dance experience, financial well-being, or age. Our hope is that our dancers will feel challenged, supported, and inspired to share the blessing and gift of dance with those around them.

We believe that movement is a universal language that can reach anyone, regardless of their background, and we seek to promote excellence while making the art of dance accessible to people from all walks of life.

Inspired Movement is pleased to offer a wide variety of classes through our school of dance. Visit our Class Schedule for all our offerings.

We are always welcoming new students!
